Vietnam's coffee industry has achieved a remarkable milestone: completing its entire 2025 annual export target of USD 5.5 billion within just the first half of the year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country exported approximately 954,000 tons of coffee between January and June 2025, marking a 5.3% increase in volume and a 67.5% surge in export value compared to the same period last year.
The primary driver of this growth was a significant rise in global coffee prices. Vietnam’s average export price climbed to USD 5,708 per ton, up nearly 60% year-over-year. With this momentum, the Ministry now forecasts that total Vietnam coffee export turnover could reach USD 7.5 billion by the end of 2025—a historic high for the country.
Vietnam remains one of the world’s leading exporters of robusta coffee, and strong demand from international markets—particularly in the European Union—has fueled this mid-year breakthrough. Export volume to Germany more than doubled, while Italy and Spain recorded increases of 45% and 56%, respectively.
The EU’s recent classification of Vietnam as a low-risk origin under the new EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) has further strengthened the country’s export competitiveness. This designation reduces inspection frequency and facilitates smoother customs clearance, making Vietnam coffee more attractive to European importers.
Experts attribute the success not only to market demand but also to Vietnam’s stable coffee supply, improved traceability systems, and close coordination between exporters, farmers, and logistics providers.
With these advantages, Vietnam’s coffee industry is poised to maintain strong export performance throughout the remainder of the year, reinforcing its global leadership in robusta exports and its strategic importance in the global agricultural trade landscape.
