Coffee Rebounds, Pepper Drops Sharply, Rice Market Shows Positive Signs. Vietnam’s agricultural commodity market recorded mixed movements on May 20, with coffee prices recovering, pepper prices falling sharply, and the rice sector showing encouraging signs thanks to stronger trading activities and tightening supply.
Domestic coffee prices rebounded after several consecutive sessions of decline. The recovery was supported by renewed buying demand and concerns over global supply conditions in major producing countries.
Market sentiment improved as traders returned to purchasing activities following the recent correction period. Industry observers noted that although price fluctuations remain present, Vietnam’s coffee sector continues to benefit from stable export demand and its important role in the global supply chain.

Unlike coffee, Vietnam’s pepper market continued its downward trend as domestic prices dropped sharply in several key growing regions. The decline was mainly driven by profit-taking activities after prices had previously reached high levels.
In addition, increased short-term supply from farmers and traders created additional pressure on the domestic market. Despite the correction, export demand for Vietnamese pepper remains relatively stable, especially from traditional international buyers.
Market analysts believe the current adjustment may help stabilize the market after a prolonged period of rapid price increases.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s rice market showed more optimistic signals. Fresh paddy prices in the Mekong Delta continued to rise slightly due to tightening supply and improving trading demand.
Trading activities became more active as businesses increased purchases to meet both domestic consumption and export commitments. The positive momentum also reflects growing confidence in Vietnam’s rice export outlook amid stable international demand.
As one of the world’s leading rice exporters, Vietnam continues to maintain a competitive position in the global market thanks to consistent quality and reliable supply capabilities.

Overall, today’s market movements highlight the dynamic nature of Vietnam’s agricultural sector. While some commodities experience short-term corrections, others continue to gain momentum driven by export demand and supply factors.
For exporters and international buyers, staying updated on market trends remains essential to optimizing trading strategies and supply chain planning in the months ahead.
