There are five months to go until the official launch (February 2025), but Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd are now ready to share updates on the service maps and advances in network design compared to the last announcement in January 2024. The two corporations also introduced a transport network around the Cape of Good Hope to replace the old route through the Suez Canal due to disruptions in the Red Sea.
Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd AG (Hapag-Lloyd) will launch the Gemini Cooperation mechanism. Previously, in January 2024, Hapag-Lloyd AG (Hapag-Lloyd) and Maersk A/S (Maersk) announced a new long-term operational cooperation under the name "Gemini Cooperation".

According to a Hapag-Lloyd press release, the ambition of these two corporations is to provide a flexible and interconnected maritime transportation network with industry-leading schedule reliability (over 90% reliability).
Since the two companies announced the new long-term cooperation in January 2024, they have been working hard to finalize the details of this cooperation, including a joint shipping network on East-West trade routes.
In October 2024, Gemini Cooperation will also announce the network, which is expected to go live in February 2025. The company is looking forward to the launch of its completely redesigned network next year, and the scheduled reliability target will be guaranteed. The collaboration between the two major ocean carriers will raise the bar for reliability for the benefit of customers and set a new and very high standard in the industry.
Depending on the network that Gemini Cooperation will deploy, the new network could include 27 or 29 efficient shipping services and be supported by a broader network of 30 regional shipping services. The cooperative network will use 300 or 340 ships.
