Ho Chi Minh City is entering a new strategic phase, aiming to become a maritime and logistics super hub—a gateway connecting Asia, Europe, and the Americas through trade, technology, and finance.

With the advantage of the Cai Mep–Thi Vai deep-water port cluster and 89 terminals, HCMC is developing an integrated logistics ecosystem:

• Multimodal infrastructure connecting seaports, industrial parks, and airports via Belt Road 3, 4, and freight railways.
• Breakthrough institutions, implementing a “one-stop, one-time declaration” model for customs and port operations.
• Technology & Green transition, building smart ports with IoT, AI, RFID, and clean fuel infrastructure (LNG, EV trucks).

The city also plans to establish a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) modeled after Shanghai, where goods can be stored, repackaged, and relabeled directly at ports—enhancing competitiveness and reducing costs.

This transformation will elevate HCMC beyond a transshipment point, turning it into a global center for logistics, finance, and maritime trade.
