Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Chairman of the Federation of International Freight Forwarding Associations (FIATA) Turgut Erkeskin who is visiting and working in Vietnam, on the afternoon of July 9, 2024.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam's average annual logistics growth rate is 14-16%, making an important contribution to bringing Vietnam's total export and import turnover in 2023 to nearly 700 billion USD. In the first 6 months of 2024, the total import and export turnover is estimated at 370 billion USD, up 15.7% over the same period in 2023, with a trade surplus of 11.63 billion USD; is an open economy, logistics plays an important role in Vietnam's economic development according to the world trend.

The Government of Vietnam is developing a Strategy for the development of Vietnam's logistics services in the period of 2025 - 2035, with a vision to 2045, so the Prime Minister asked FIATA to share more information, advice and support on digital transformation and green transformation, focusing on solutions to develop agricultural logistics, etc industry, development of Vietnam's shipping fleet, economic, trade and transport corridors and technical assistance for Vietnam to soon complete the National Strategy on logistics service development in 2024.
According to the Prime Minister, in the coming time, the Government of Vietnam will consider establishing a steering agency on logistics services with a sufficiently strong, capable and competent professional apparatus to help the Government direct the development and promotion of this important field, meeting the practical requirements of logistics service development. ensure that it is in line with the current trend and context of Vietnam's international integration becoming deeper and wider.
The Prime Minister asked FIATA to pay attention to supporting human resource development for Vietnam's logistics industry; expand training programs and improve capacity for Vietnamese enterprises.
In addition, Vietnam is focusing on developing strategic infrastructure, including logistics infrastructure, training high-quality human resources. Accordingly, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Government of Vietnam will accompany domestic and foreign partners, support and create all favorable conditions for economic cooperation - investment - trade - service activities, in which special attention is paid to cooperation in the development of logistics services to bring more benefits to the parties in the spirit of harmonious interests, shared risk.
Chairman of the Federation of International Freight Forwarding Associations Turgut Erkeskin shared that in the current situation, logistics plays an important role, but faces great challenges. Therefore, it is proposed and trusted that the Government, ministries and branches of Vietnam support and actively participate in the successful organization of the FIATA World Congress in 2025 in Hanoi here.
Mr. Turgut Erkeskin also highly appreciated Vietnam's logistics service development strategy for the period 2025 - 2035, with a vision to 2045, especially in digital transformation, green transformation and Vietnam's commitment to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050; The Chairman of FIATA assessed that Vietnam has great potential to become a logistics center of the region and the world. At the same time, he said that Vietnam needs to mobilize all social resources to develop this economic sector.
