4 export commodity groups shine in the first half of 2024

According to the latest preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the first half of January 2024, the total export turnover of the country reached nearly $15.09 billion, a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Among the exported goods, four groups recorded turnovers of $1 billion or more, which is a decrease of one group compared to the same period last year. Footwear is no longer in the billion-dollar club, with export turnover reaching only $820 million, down from $1.03 billion in the same period in 2023.

The four groups maintaining billion-dollar results are: Phones and components; computers, electronic products, and components; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts; textiles and garments with turnovers of $2.86 billion, $2.25 billion, $1.63 billion, and $1.29 billion, respectively.

Notably, among these groups, phones and components have reclaimed the top position in exports from the group of computers, electronic products, and components.

Of the four billion-dollar groups, only two have shown positive growth, while machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts, as well as textiles and garments, have experienced a decrease in export turnover compared to the same period last year.
